On Friday, May 29, Carmel of the Infant Jesus in Zephyr, Ont., celebrated the Solemn Profession and Veiling of Sister Mary of the Holy Spirit. This celebration was presided at by His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo and was attended by many other priests, family members and friends of Carmel.

The Sister proclaims her desire to live faithfully with the Blessed Virgin Mary a life of allegiance to Jesus Christ and profess the evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity and obedience. At the rite of profession, there is the presentation of the insignia of religious profession during which the Sister receives a black veil and a crown. These are signs of her consecration and unbroken faith in Jesus, the Bridegroom. These signs proclaim that the Sister belongs entirely to Christ and His Mystical Body, the Church.

After this joyful celebration, there was a reception in the hall.

Carmel is an order dedicated completely to the Blessed Virgin Mary and to serving the Church as Saint Therese of the Child Jesus prophetically declared “In the heart of the Church, my mother, I shall be love."  For more information about Carmel of the Infant Jesus in Zephyr, please visit www.myvocationislove.ca
