The Church is not just a place to attend Mass or parish events, but a place to grow in faith. Our Faith Formation Ministry responds to this call to evangelization by teaching the Catholic faith to those considering Catholicism (e.g. RCIA), receiving the Sacraments of Initiation (e.g. Baptism, First Holy Communion, and Confirmation), or those seeking growth in the Catholic faith (e.g. Adult Faith Formation).
Do you feel called to teach the Catholic faith as a lay catechist? Join our Faith Formation Ministry today.
First Holy Communion
First Holy Communion is a special time in a young Catholic's life where he or she receives the Eucharistic Lord for the first time. Parishes are tasked with preparing children for this sacred event, which includes catechism classes on the Holy Eucharist and experiencing God's love through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession).
First Holy Communion classes are offered yearly and conclude with First Holy Communion Mass at a specified date. Please contact office (416) 261-7498 for further information”.
Confirmation Preparation
Confirmation is the sacrament that completes a child's initiation into the church with rites to strengthen them for their adult faith journey. With Confirmation we accept our mission to live as "soldiers for Christ" and live a life of love in His Holy Spirit.
Children are normally prepared for Confirmation from grade 7 up. Children and their parents participate in four series of one on one questions and answers with Fr Simon in preparation for the sacrament and are normally confirmed in May or June.
Please contact office at (416) 261-7498 for information on registering for Confirmation.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
The RCIA, a program of the Catholic Church, is oriented towards those who are searching and inquiring about the Catholic way of life. These people are initiated into the Catholic Church through the celebration of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist, also known as the Sacraments of Initiation. While this program is oriented for adults, it also accepts teenagers who are mature enough to participate in the RCIA.
The RCIA program is a journey over four periods:
Are you or someone you know is looking to become Catholic? Please contact the Parish Office to arrange a meeting with the Pastor.
Liturgy of the Word for Children
Liturgy for Children, also known as Children's Liturgy, offers the first parts of the Mass to children in Kindergarten through Grade 2. It presents the prayers, the Gospel and a homily of the Sunday Mass at a level that young children can understand and be engaged. It provides an opportunity to bring the gospel message to children and ultimately to their families.
Children's Liturgy is typically offered during the Sunday Mass, from September to June. No registration is required and participation is voluntary. Before Mass begins, the priest will call the children to the front of the sanctuary. They will be lead to the sacristy after a blessing. They will return to their pews before the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.
Please contact the Parish Office to learn more about our Children's Liturgy.
