COVID-19 Protocols
COVID-19 Notice:
- As of Monday, March 21, 2022, mandatory mask requirements are relaxed. Parishioners may choose to wear, or not wear, a mask based on their personal comfort.
- As of Tuesday, March 1, 2022, the Archdiocese of Toronto relaxes ALL major COVID-19 restrictions. Churches can open at 100% capacity, physical distancing is relaxed, and registration to attend Mass is no longer required.
Current COVID-19 protocols (starting March 21):
Churches return to 100% capacity, without physical distancing.
The six-feet distancing rule between households is relaxed. The congregation can sit close together as in pre-pandemic times.
Indoor masks are no longer required to access the parish.
Effective March 21, 2022, mask use transitions from mandatory to individual choice. Parishioners may choose to wear, or not wear, a mask based on their personal comfort.
Registration to attend Mass is no longer required.
Mass Registration was meant to support contact tracing. This requirement no longer applies beyond March 1st.
Communion on the tongue resumes.
Details to safely resume this practice will be provided by the Priest.
Holy Water fonts can be refilled. Hand sanitation stations remain.
Please continue to sanitize your hands as you enter, receive Holy Communion, and leave the church.
Simple bowing during the Sign of Peace remains.
A bow or wave suffices for now.
Self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms remains strongly recommended.
As an act of charity, please continue to self-screen for COVID-19 symptoms and stay home if you have symptoms. We all have a role to make St. Theresa’s Parish a safe and reverent environment.
Other COVID-19 changes beyond March 21st:
- Altar servers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion can return to pre-pandemic duties.
- Rapid testing for unvaccinated clergy, staff and volunteers is suspended. Proof of vaccination (e.g. Vaccine Passport) is not required to enter church.
- Prayer books, hymnals, and missals can return to the pews.
- Baptisms can return to pre-pandemic practices.
- Confessionals can reopen as long as both parties are masked.
- All remaining restrictions on parish halls and choirs end (and return to pre-pandemic operations on March 21st).
- Food and drink can be served at parish halls.
